Crossroads

The Flatiron building between 22nd & 23rd Street. Looking at it from uptown Broadway crosses it to the left and 5th Avenue crosses to the right heading downtown. This was my old neighborhood. I lived on 20th Street and 7th Avenue for about six years, maybe seven.

@k@: merci k@...i have to give credit to my little A630...that swivel lcd makes framing like this much easier than just having a viewfinder...i keep hoping that soon Nikon, Canon, etc...will put swivel lcd's on all their dslr type bodies, or at least have it as an option...have a great weekend...

@Ian: thanks ian...you know while I was working on this, playing with the shadows and color I started thinking this looks a little like candy...

@hugo poon: thank you Hugo...all of the noise/grain is from lightning the shadows...maybe just a bit from pushing the blue in the sky, but honest, that's what I love about the Canon A630 noise, it just pleases me, almost like film, and it sings in b&w use...unlike the splotchy kind of noise i get with my F30...although I kinda prefer the color I get from the Fuji...

I'd love to have a go at photographing that building Momo.

I was lucky enough to be able see the original of Steichen's 1905 photo of this a while ago and it left a lasting impression on me.

@Ian Bramham: I'm sure you'd show us some amazing images Ian...hope you get the chance to do it one day...also, I'd recommend going inside...it's a great building inside and out...I had a friend with an office about ten stories up right in the corner window that faces 23rd Street and uptown...that was fabulous to see...I've taken photos of this building over the years...i have a small b&w print someplace...hmmm, wonder, if I find it and it's worthwhile I'll scan it and post...
