5-Stars! This has some of the look and the complexity of a pen and ink drawing.
So many fascinating details. Wonderfully and dramatically composed right up to the black sky.
Don't even tell me this is HDR, because i am not found of HDR images..... and I think this one is exquisite !
I would have liked to have been looking over your shoulder as you shot and processed this gem !!!

@Dulcie: Hi Dulcie...thanks for the kind word...nope, no hdr...i tell you honest the shot is very banal, i jazzed it up in Lightroom, and since discovering Lightroom, holy cow, what an amazing tool...ok, not as deep as photoshop, but so capable...like the black sky...just take my blue to -100 in the grayscale panel and voila, black sky...

As far as black and white images go, this is exquisite and one of the best I've seen for a long time. Deep contrast against the sky and incredible sharp detailing from a full range of tones.

@Curly: Thanks so much Curly...I've read about the d700 sharpness being limited by the aa filter...i shoot raw and yes, some images have a softness...quickly taken care of with some sharpening...

@KimberlyC: Yes, playing with my old ways of developing images in the darkroom except now via computer...it's taking me a while to wrap my head around all this...so much possibility...just love it...thanks Kim...hope you're feeling well...
