Winter Ride

I bought this steel Mercian frame in New York back in 2000. It's my winter ride now, though I haven't put the fenders back on yet. This is a very comfortable bike for me. The steel is Reynolds 531. Old Mavic Open Pro wheels wearing Conti's Grand Prix 4 season tires. I've got Campy down tube shifters attached to an old Chorus rear derailleur and a Chorus front derailleur. The crankset is an old Shimano 600 series with a 51 large chain ring from Rivendell and a 38 small ring made by Stronglight. Brake levers are also my old Shimano 600's attached to long reach Shimano RX100 brakes. Regal saddle for comfort au maximum. All in all a mutt of mixed parts that work well together. That's it for now, but I will be overhauling an old set of 8 speed Campy Chorus ergo shifters that I may use on this in a few months. Right now I'm liking the retro feel of downtube shifters.

American Suburb X. Off the beaten path photography and interviews of some famous and not so famous photographers. Some I love, some I hate, but the content is nearly always provocative. A great mix of different styles, subject matter, and perspective on what photography can be. Enjoy.
